SCH advertises the opportunity to mobilise a new Workers Healthcare Network

The Supreme Council of Health (SCH), on behalf of the State of Qatar, is seeking one or more private sector partner(s) to expand the healthcare system to meet the needs of the country’s Single Male Labourer (SML) workforce. This population numbers between 1.0 and 1.5 million individuals, most of whom are from South Asia and engaged in manual labour.

The SML population’s needs are currently met by the existing public health system, augmented by services provided by the Qatar Red Crescent Society through dedicated outpatient facilities.

SCH is looking to partner with one or more private organisation(s) which can establish a new Workers Healthcare Network to focus on the particular health needs of this population with an emphasis on quality and cost. Partners will be expected to provide managerial and operational expertise and capacity, including provision of clinical staff and services as well as experience in running an integrated system.

This is a very significant commercial opportunity to contribute to the creation of a total health system to serve a population which represents more than 50% of residents in Qatar. It is also a major chance to participate in developments to improve the conditions offered by the State of Qatar to this crucial group which is engaged in the massive and exciting infrastructure programme in preparation for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and to realise the objectives of Qatar’s National Vision.

SCH is seeking to identify organisations who can supply any, or all, of the elements within such an integrated healthcare system, including:-

  1. The overall management of the healthcare network, including strategic commissioning and contract management of the supply chain
  2. Secondary care
  3. Primary care
  4. Associated healthcare services
  5. Ancillary services
  6. Facilities management services.
