SCH organizes 2nd Qatar Patient Safety Week

Under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Public Health Mr. Abdulla Bin Khalid Al-Qahtani, the Supreme Council of Health organizes 2nd Qatar patient Safety Week from 18th – 23rd of January entitled “Patients Participation”.

The event will be held at Al-Qassar Resort during which several workshops will be organized on Sunday and Monday, in addition to two other workshops to be held at SCH Auditorium next Tuesday. Public campaigns will also be organized at shopping malls on the 23rd and 24th of this month with publications, other materials, and gifts will be handed out to the audience as well as exchange of information with them to create awareness on patients safety.

The World Health Organization will be taking part in the event through providing a comprehensive program on patients’ participation in maintaining Healthcare quality improvement. Other workshops will be presented by other internationally accredited academies such as Synesis Health which focuses on patients safety and quality improvement, in addition to ISMP.

The workshops will be focusing on different topics such as: Prevention, medication safety, patients’ participation in addition to communication skills in collective action and the continuation of care.

These events aims at promoting patients’ participation and their effective role in the field of health care, and enables patients and their families and encourage communication on patients safety and education and spread awareness among leaders and healthcare providers, as well as encourages the establishment of a platform between healthcare providers and patients to build a safe healthcare system.

An exhibition will also be organized during which organizations and hospitals in both public and private sectors will showcase its expertise, efforts and projects in the field of patients’ safety. Participants in posters will be honored during the event.

The first Qatar patient Safety Week was held last year in January and contributed in delivering SCH’s mission on ensuring patients’ safety.
